ELLIOTT BANKS BROWNE still 4th in the championship as JAKE NICHOLLS scores his best ride ever.
In the MX2 class this weekend Suzuki Swift saw the return of Jake Nicholls riding for the first time after just 3days riding under his belt since his horrendous crash at round 1 that left him injured.
As the gate dropped class favourite and series leader Steven Sword took the holeshot and lead from start to finish. Suzuki Swift riders Banks Browne and Nicholls found themselves in 7th and 11th on lap one and put on a charge to the front. Banks Browne soon managed to pass current champion Mike Browne and pulled away from the rest of the field to climb to 4th spot.
Jake Nicholls followed his team mate through the field with a determined fight until the chequered flag which saw him finish a superb 5th to the delight of his home crowd and the team.
Chasing for that final podium spot with just one lap to go Elliott failed to finish the race putting him out of what would have been a certain 3rd place finish.
With the highs and lows of the previous race both riders were determined to build on their superb 1st race efforts.
Elliott gated 3rd which he kept until lap 10 when he clashed with a back marker allowing Carl Nunn past and Elliott ended the race in 4th.
Jake’s 2nd race saw him start the race in 13th and eventual finish 15th to end the day in 9th place. Read More...

Elliott continued to show that he has finally stepped up his game this year to be a feared rival in the MX2 world series. Again the sole representative of the Suzuki Swift Motocross Team, the Suffolk teenager scored in both races of the third round of the world motocross championships at the impressive Agueda track in the hills of Portugal.
Run in stifling heat, a severe contrast to the previous weekend’s Spanish GP, the Portuguese GP was a severe test of man and machine and Elliott and the Suzuki Swift RMZ250 came through with flying colours.
With the positions for the final qualifying places in the most difficult of the two Saturday heats changing by the lap Elliott gave better than he got to end the race a secure 11th, having fought off or passed a number of other regular qualifiers, to boost his confidence for the points-chasing races on Sunday.
From an unfavoured outside gate Elliott had no chance of the holeshot, but gained a whole new bunch of admirers for his gutsy rides through the field in both motos. Read More...

MX2 MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 2 – BELLPUIG/ SPAIN Published: April 21, 2008

Elliott Banks-Browne rose to the occasion for the second weekend in succession as injuries again decimated the Suzuki Swift Motocross Team effort at the second round of the world championships held at the hillside Bellpuig track in northern Spain.
Elliott bravely qualifying direct from his heat on Saturday as blustery showers made the track treacherous – world champion Toni Cairoli crashed twice in his heat !
The conditions on race day were atrocious as persistent rainfall from early morning saturated the track and rendered the hills almost impassable. Even many low-lying sections of the track were under several feet of water.
